Hey Traveler,
Welcome to my first newsletter! I’m thrilled to take you along on my journey to one of the most picturesque places in Vietnam—Hoi An. In December 2023, I found myself wandering through this ancient town, a place where history and beauty seem to breathe together.
A Step Back in Time
Hoi An is a UNESCO World Heritage site, known for its charming old town filled with yellow-painted buildings, narrow streets, and timeless architecture. Everywhere you look, there’s a story—whether it’s a weathered wall, a hand-carved wooden shop sign, or the bustling local markets.
One of my favourite moments was simply watching the locals go about their daily routines. Take a look at this photo of two people pushing a cart down the street, embodying the spirit of resilience and hard work that defines Hoi An’s community.
Streets Filled with Culture
The streets of Hoi An are adorned with colorful lanterns, and come evening, the town lights up in an enchanting glow. The markets are vibrant, brimming with traditional goods, fresh produce, and the warmth of local vendors. I felt like I was walking through a scene from an old Vietnamese movie, surrounded by all this beauty.
In this next photo, you’ll see a vendor carrying baskets filled with produce, balancing them effortlessly. It’s a sight that’s so quintessentially Hoi An, a reminder of the town’s deep
cultural roots.
Artisans at Work
One of the highlights of my visit was watching an artisan at work, carving wood with meticulous detail. Craftsmanship is alive and well here, and each piece tells a story of dedication and tradition. Seeing this firsthand made me appreciate the artistry that fills every corner of Hoi An.
Here’s a close-up of a woodcarver focused on his work, with some of the carved faces that were on display. Each one seemed to have its own personality, almost as if they were characters from another time.
My Takeaway
Discovering the Timeless Beauty of Hoi An, Vietnam 🇻🇳 Hoi An has a magical, almost dreamlike atmosphere. It’s a place that invites you to slow down, take in the surroundings, and connect with both the past and the present. If you ever find yourself in Vietnam, don’t miss this hidden gem.
Thank you for joining me on this journey! I hope these images and stories transport you to Hoi An for a moment. Until next time, keep exploring and stay curious.
